hey, Buffy, so no one told you life was gonna be this way...
Here's Buffy the Vampire Slayer as viewed thru the prism of Christos Gage and Rebekah Isaacs' storytelling. Season 10, Book 2: I Wish collects issues #6-10 and continues the personal dramas and paranormal derring-do of Buffy and the Scooby gang. They're situated now in San Francisco, a place where it ain't cheap, the cost of living. What kind of dummy would give up their apartment without first landing a new one? One dummy's name rhymes with stuffy. Luckily, magic's back in the world. Andthere happens to be this apartment building what's haunted and in dire need of exorcism. Enter Buffy, ghosthunter, hoping to snag a sweet deal with the landlady. Anyway, that's issue #6, synopsized. Some plot spoilers. Our guys end up with a living situation à la Friends. I guess it's apropos for the Scoobies that their job's a joke, they're broke, their love life's D.O.A. Just imagine if Joey and Chandler got their hands on the Vampyr book, what sort of hijinks they'd get up to. Maybe something along the lines of what goes down when roomies Spike and Xander are put in charge of safeguarding the magic book.Yep, the overarching plotline still resides in the Vampyr book wherein one could rewrite the laws of magic. It's an irresistible temptation. Even our homies, the Scoobies, feel the almighty enticement of it. Take Andrew who may have suffered a villainous relapse when he absconds with the book and beats feet to Sunnydale with mischief in mind. Take Xander who's desperate to rekindle a reset Dawn's old romantic feelings for him.And if the good guys are drawn to the book, how frantic are the baddies to get their mitts on it? This is another action-packed volume that pits Buffy and crew against a ghost, sirens, a Cthulhu-type demon lord, Vicki the Vampire and her daywalker minions, oh, and Harmony. But, as ever, as sweet as the monster-slaying bits are, it's the character work that defines and elevates the Buffy show. If there's a running theme to this volume, it's one of forgiveness, of our characters absolving each other of past transgressions. For me, the most telling character moment is Buffy and Spike's conversation at the Hellmouth as they have a frank discussion about their relationship issues that had been dangling since Seasons 6 and 7. It was really interesting, learning Buffy's take on how she feels about Spike today and on what Spike was going thru in those past seasons, particularly Season 6 when he tried to, you know...Is Christos Gage as funny and witty and as subversive as Joss Whedon? No. But he does enough to be reminiscent of Whedon's style. I smiled like a loser at Dawn's remark about Burning Man at the Hellmouth. I continue to enjoy Rebekah Isaacs' art, never mind that her style doesn't much make the characters look like themselves. A particular treat is Richard Corben's distinctive illustration as he contributes a three-paged segment in "Return to Sunnydale, Part One" that details the backstory of the demonic Soul Glutton, this volume's biggest big bad.Lastly, there's a bonus feature consisting of a nine-paged cover gallery and sketchbook.

If Vampires Control Magic
This was a very exciting chappie in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer saga. The book of Vampyre was erased and Harmony and Clem steal it to re-write the world as Harmony wants it. Of course, she is foiled, but not completely. Harmony as a vampire is just like she was as a human. Shallow, but so funny! The reasons I liked this book are 1. Lots of Spike 2. Clem as a guest star3. Although a serious drama was going on, having Harmony try to rule the world was pretty funny.

Love it!
4.5*Book source ~ LibraryThere’s a little bit of goofy story in this and some of the illustrations are kinda ugh, but for the most part this is one excellent addition to the Buffyverse with plenty of action, humor, and internal struggling for many of the characters. There is also a lot of emotional growth which is a nice change of pace. I am really, really liking the direction this season is heading. A million times better than most of the previous seasons installments that’s for damn sure. In fact, the scene with Xander, Spike, and the sirens is better than all of season 8. I'm still giggling.

hard to find time to keep up with it but worth it!
I'm actually reading this right now, I'm loving what they've done up to this point and this one is very good. Finally they're back together and feeling like a family, lots of things are happening and i can't put them down.

Way better than Vol
Way better than Vol. 1 and better than Angel & Faith Vol. 2 which is saying something because up to this point I wouldn't rate Buffy over Angel & Faith once, Season 9 or 10.

Another great installment
Season 10 so far has been as good as I've come to expect of the Buffy comics - which by the way is fantastic. The character progression is gripping and the stories are action packed. I'm very pleased with this purchase

Getting tired of plot / character regurgitation.
Getting tired of plot / character regurgitation. Still a Buffy fan, but might give up after the next compilation if it doesn't freshen up soon.
