The weight is nice and hefty. There are three jets that light well. The trigger is very easy for people that have problems with conventional lighters. My only criticism is that it is a little too powerful. Even at its lowest setting, the force of the flame is a bit much.

Update 07/17/24: After using for a month the torch is consistently lighting on first strike, unless it is hot, which seems like a safety feature. Plus it is holding up well after substantial use. Original review: This torch would be a great buy, If it fired consistently. Sometimes up to 20 or more clicks to get ignition whether it's full or not. That makes this a bad choice due to unreliability.

*6 months after purchasing*Still using this torch frequently however it is very touchy and sometimes difficult to initially ignite after not being used for more than a couple hours. Against safety recommendations, I use a lighter to start it in this case. Still prefer this torch to any larger torch due to quieter sound & better portability.*Original review*So far, so good! I bought this lighter to carry with me to light propane heaters and a woodstove. I was tired of buying Bics and running out of butane so I bought an upper end refillable lighter. It had a few initial design flaws like I had to check that it shut off before I put it in my pocket and after a few lightings one of the three converging jets was plugged. But just now, when I tried to use it to preheat some plastic tubing to slide it on the coupling, the piezo igniter stopped working. So, now that I have a lifetime of butane purchased too, I realized I would have had better longevity with a one dollar Bic.

Follow the instructions, and you should not have any problems at all with filling the lighter with butane. By the way, the lighter does not have any butane fuel inside because of safety reasons. At the same time, you should have some butane ready to fill it up when it arrives. The instructions say that you should turn the notch all the way down (to the minus symbol) to fill it up. However, the instructions never say to turn it up (to the plus sign) a little bit so the lighter can be lit. The lighter is big, heavy, and fits very well in my hand. I will be using it to melt the wax so I can make wax seals on my letters.

I need a little torch for melting and sealing the ends of synthetic line on board. I also do onboard electrical work and a little torch is needed for heat shrink tubing and connectors. The cheapo torches you get at the convenience store always fail to light when you need them. Go to a hardware store to get a good torch and they are too big and unhandy for on board. This one has worked reliably for me for several months. It has a solid feel, is well made and puts out a very hot flame that is easy to direct.
