Breath Taking
The media could not be loaded. Can I just give an extra star?Wow.I am a photographer and also a Nikon Fan. Recently I decided it was time for me to have a pocket camera for everyday life instead of the mobile phone and I could not be happier with the choice I made. I researched for almost 3 weeks before buying, saw hundreds of sample photos, read every single review taking into consideration the pro and cons against some other options I had on mind. Even after that, I wasn't sure when I clicked "BUY" on Amazon.Previously I bought a Panasonic but I hated the quality to the point that I thought my iPhone was performing better. This camera is very compact and for the price, I paid I kind of understand why they used the plastic on the outer shelf. To be honest, I am ok with it. This is my first mirrorless camera and might be the reason why I might fall in love for this category. It is really easy to use, images are sharp with an amazing depth of field giving that blurry background when needed. The flash pops up and you can push it to flash the ceiling giving a soft light and the right exposure. The only thing that I advise on this camera is for you to get a case. I lost my previous pocket camera because I didn't think I needed the case. I was wrong.Canon eh31-fj – Plastic Case for EOS M100, Black with Red Stripes Bottom YellowFirst2savvv full body Precise Fit PU leather digital camera case bag cover with should strap for Canon EOS M100 wish 15-45mm Lens + Cleaning cloth XJD-EOS M100-01First2savvv full body Precise Fit PU leather digital camera case bag cover with should strap for Canon EOS M100 wish 15-45mm Lens + Cleaning cloth XJD-EOS M100-01MegaGear MG1323 Ultra Light Neoprene Case with Carabiner for Canon EOS M100 Camera - GreyAlso. it doesn't record 4K. it isn't a problem for me because that was not my focus, but it might be a deal breaker for some.I am using this camera with a Memory card from Kingston. Also, it is one of the best brands I foud out there.Kingston SDR/128GB Canvas React SDR/128 GB SD Card, Class10, Ideal for Shooting Burst-Mode Photos and 4 K VideoPersonal Opinion: This camera is brilliant. I am more than 100% happy with my choice. it is easy to use, well built, small, silent, versatile.... it is good for the newbie and for the pro with a excellent price.

Exceptional sharp images and so easy to use
This camera is awesome and here is my review why...I have owned an EOS 350D for many years and with the help of the internet and various books I’ve learned how to use the manual features. This has given me a good level of understanding on how to use the more professional settings to achieve much better pictures. I am by no means a professional photographer but I love to take pictures and play around with the settings. This has taken me several years and different lenses to achieve the best I could with the EOS 350D.Last week I decided I needed to upgrade my trusty old eos and get something more modern and something which I could teach my 13 year old son some photography skills. After much research I found a lot of people talking about the M series of canon eos cameras. After much debate I settled on the M100 which is basically the entry model but don’t be fooled with that, it is by no means low on features or quality. The camera is supplied with a half decent zoom lens which takes a really good, sharp and clear picture. The camera has a point and shoot mode which is amazingly good and works similar to most new smartphones, you can even tap the screen to focus and take the shot. You can also use the conventional button to focus and the fully press to take you photo. The picture quality is unbelievable compared to my EOS 350, even with a sigma 30mm fixed lens which is exceptional but still due to the megapixel increase it’s astounding. You will need to download the canon EOS M100 manual so you can fully understand what the camera has to offer, which is a huge amount. It has all the different manual settings you would expect from an EOS camera and a bucket full of user friendly settings for anyone who can take a picture with a smartphone but wants to go further.I haven’t used the film side of this camera yet but I can imagine it will be everything I expect it to be and more, given how sharp the photo mode is.To show how good this camera is I have it to my 13 year old son to spend half hour just taking pictures on the point and shoot mode. The results of some of the pictures amazed me given his limited knowledge to photography and only really taking pictures with an iPhone 6. The picture of our cat on my daughters bed which is uploaded shows just how good this camera is.The only problem and it’s quite a boo boo on canons designers is the phone can’t be charged like a phone! Really, in today’s market of smartphones being charged on the go with powerbanks. It just makes no sense they add an old used type socket when a micro usb socket to charge the battery would complete the package. I haven’t taken a star away as the camera is still amazing but it’s a point needed raising.

Is ok but Lumix GX800 is better value for money
I'm a long term Nikon user but Nikon seems to have forgotten de mirrorless market for the last few years.Traveling with kids and DSLRs is a bit of a faf especially when air travel is involved. We all have good camera phones these days but phone quality does not compare to even a 3/4'' sensor. Is ok and better than nothing but not as good as a dedicated camera. My requirements were simple: camera has to be compact, light, have interchangeable lens (because a prime f/1.8 or better is good to have), have 4K Video if possible (because in a few years all our home TVs will be 4K anyway) and have good build quality.Found the Canon M100 on Amazon discounted £80 thus grabbed it.Tested it and although picture is good focusing in low light was not the best, was a bit slow. The main prob was that the kit lens does not perform well in low light. Also does not do 4K.The alternative would be the Lumix GX800 which is priced around the same bracket. Thus got one to compare. It is a lot better.Way more compact, lighter, has 4K (limited to 5 minute clips, because the camera is so compact it can overheat, although never happened to me), does 1080p etc. Also does 4K burst, at any aperture and shutter SPEED. The GX800 is also compatible with more lens (Panasonic and Olympus) thus wider market, cheaper lens.Overall is a better camera thus why I returned the Canon and kept the Lumix GX800Have a look for yourself on the interwebs and if you can, test both. For me the GX800 is better value for money and a good replacement while traveling to my faithful Nikon DSLR.
