Very good and useful way of improving vocabulary and grammar. It provokes thought and improves written french which is often overlooked.

My boyfriend bought the Kindle version of this book. I haven't got very far in it but realise the vocabulary for the second lesson are missing and instead you are given same list of vocabulary as for lesson 3. Not really happy with this. Now I don't know what to expect from the rest of the book... I have checked on Amazon and viewing the book I can see that vocabulary for the second lesson is provided so there must be some error with Kindle version.

Great for advanced learners --- topics chosen are mostly academic materials (excerpts of articles, statistic materials, etc), so it is good in enhancing high level vocabulary. After every comprehension exercise on the topic is an explanation of grammatical points which I find the most helpful, followed by more exercises, this time on the grammar. Answer keys are provided at the back for all exercises.

I would not recommend this book for someone who is new to the French language. Many of the reading comprehension exercises were more advanced than I would have expected. I consider myself to be at an intermediate level, and I had difficulty with many of the exercises. Apart from that the book is great for its value. They cover most grammar concepts and there are many practice questions.

The whole series is excellent. Helped me a lot in my exam.

An excellent book to buy for beginners! This book not only consists of stories for reading and comprehension, but it has tips for verb tenses, vocabulary building, and some grammar. Combined with few different ideas, French Reading and Comprehension book is very organized and useful.

Good but sometimes the structure of the book is not appropriate from my opinion.

I have enjoyed using the Practice Makes Perfect French books. This one brings it all together using real French articles from current sources.

Definitely not for beginners - but very useful for advanced intermediate level. The texts are "intelligent" and most relate to Francophone culture and events. Some supporting vocabulary is provided but I found myself needing to refer to a dictionary quite often. The aim is to try to understand the texts provided without referring to literal translations. The downside is that no supporting audio is available.

This is a good review book, best for upper-intermediate learners who want to learn how to better read in French, or advanced learners who want a good review. The author lists some of the more difficult vocabulary at the beginning of each story to review beforehand. The stories themselves give an interesting glimpse into French history and culture.

Love the format of this workbook. Vocabulary, an article, questions on the article and review of grammar. Annie Heminway wrote this workbook, and I prefer the workbooks she creates over others in this series. She has students write complete sentences which is helpful in French and in English.This is a challenging workbook, but excellent for an advanced intermediate or advanced French class. I'm going to show it to my French instructor.

I have purchased many versions of these books in several different languages for my high school children to learn languages. They really like the workbook style of book. The instructions are all in English, so it is easy for them to understand what they need to do. It consists of filling in the blank type problems and choosing the correct answer from a list. The answers to the problems are at the end of the book, so they can determine if they got the answer right or wrong. The only downside is that they are not able to listen to the spoken language, but that is the case with most language books.I feel that these books have helped them greatly and I would recommend to others.
