Must have for knee replacement surgery!!!
My wife just had her 2nd knee replacement. This machine is a must have. My mistake was waiting to get the OK from the doc after the surgery, don't ask, just order. SUGGESTION: highly recommend not to use ice, rather use 12OZ frozen water bottles (5 Dasani work best for cool not cold temp). Have two sets you can rotate, they will last 36+ hrs. As a caregiver, they are a life saver and for the patient, this machine comfortably provides consistent relief to swelling far, far superior to ice packs, frozen peas, etc.

Best post-surgical investment of all time
Recovering from surgery on my leg and the swelling was incredible easily an inch or two inches larger and circumference than the other leg. Advil did very little. Postoperative pain killers all had Tylenol in them which did nothing for the swelling. But the polar ice product was a lifesaver even during times where I was having breakthrough pain using the polar ice machine would simply make it not necessary to take another pain killer as it reduce the swelling visibly and measurably by half an inch or more afternoon only 30 minutes of use.The way the universal bladder and attachments allow it to be strapped directly to your body and the fact that you can keep wearing it for 30 straight minutes unlike an ice pack which may begin to be too cold, makes this an incredible product. There are numerous attachments to allow you to strap the universal bladder to different parts of the body like the back or shoulder, and there are even attachments that allow you to use battery power and a variety of other things. The product itself is so simple but yet so operative and it is clearly an ingenious idea and it is made in the United States of America right here at home. The two words I would use to summarize this solution are: elegant and effective.Seriously best bang for your buck and my flexible spend was allowed to be used to cover for it!

Better Off With An Ice Pack
Doctor recommended use of ice therapy system after surgery. I thought the 30 minute timer would be good as that's about the right amount of time to ice down swollen joint, but the water just didn't flow well. Bladder also never seemed cold enough though there was always ice in chest. The water completely stopped pumping through the hose in second week. If you need ice therapy your best options are either spend more to get a better product, or get a good wrap and some bags of ice which would be just as good or better than this machine .

Satisfied customer
Although this is pricey it is incredible product. Got my husband threw a total knee replacement and I am now and using it for my back. Worked with the seller on this and they were very accommodating.

Very satisfied with the product
Very satisfied with the product. I found that a thin layer of cloth between the skin and the product insured maximum cooling without having the wrap in direct contact with the skin. Added 4 quarts of water to the container and then used a combination of ice cubes and two small blocks of ice that I froze in my freezer. The combination was able to say ice cold for about 12 hours with no additional ice added. As far as noise level - pump was a little noisy but I put a beach towel over the unit and it muffled the sound to a lower level. To get maximum efficiency it is important to be sure no kinks in the line and that you don't wrap the unit to tightly using the valcro straps.

Useful except for 2 Issues
This ice machine was very helpful after my total knee replacement. I put 3 16oz frozen bottles of water in along with a bag of ice and filled with water only to the line. This stayed cold for several hours allowing me the 20 minutes on, 20Minutes off without refills. My only difficulty with use was attaching/detaching the wrap tubing. It seems to only cool when attached one way but I had to keep switching the coupling until I got it right. It took more strength than I had sometimes to accomplish this. Now that I have finished using it there is another problem: I cannot drain the water from the wrap (bladder). I've tried hanging it up to drain - it doesn't, squeezing - it moves water around but not out. A friend who has the same machine put hers away and it smells mildewed now.

Timer only lasts 30 minutes.
Nice size, does what it says but the most important thing is that the timer only goes for 30 minutes. I ended up purchasing another brand at half the price from Amazon that has a never ending timer. Having had a total knee replacement, ice full time is necessary. One simply cannot be expected to reset the timer every 30minutes and get some rest too!

Works ok, loud and awkward.
Wish it was strong enough to pump "up" to my knee, but the unit needs to be placed above the cooling cuff level to flow water. It is also a little (lot) louder than I would like. Overall it is doing the job. Wish Amazon would allow me to post a short video to show how loud it is. Mine is running at 60db - twice what is advertised.
