Great EQ potential.
*2nd edit* Alicia from Maono support emailed me the frequency response graph which I will share here. You can see in the graph where the mids are scooped from 500hz-3khz, and there's a treble spike around 6k-7k. That treble spike gives these that "clarity" but also due to the mid scoop, it accentuates the lack of mids making these sound a little thin. While you can use a piece of toilet paper in the earcup to smooth out the treble, there's no way around the mid scoop but to EQ it which is why I'm glad to have the graph, so I can tailor these to my needs. They can be mixing cans after all.*edit* So I contacted the seller to obtain a frequency response graph, to which I received a reply with the graph attached. Unfortunately Amazon wouldn't let me open it. Again they sent me another attachment and Amazon wouldn't let me open it. The seller has had excellent communication throughout with a determination to help. For that, I am updating my review to 4 stars instead of 3.These headphones feel comfortable and sturdy, they have great noise isolation. The locking cables make this feel premium as well as the metal headband adjuster. I love that you can replace the headband and the cable, I think you can replace the ear pads as well but I haven't tested that. Build quality gets a solid 8/10. These would be excellent for a DJ.I am not a DJ or an audiophile, that said, I have audiophile tendencies because I am a recording artist. I pay close attention to the frequency response of speakers and headphones because I don't want to be deceived when I mix and master my recordings. My main listening cans are MPOW H12's which are ANC at work and to be fair to these studio headphones, I could mix better on my MPOWs than these. Not to say these are horrible, because they aren't, these actually offer very clear highs 4k-16k they are scooped between the 500 -2k range (mostly between 1k-2k), and despite the big 50mm drivers, these barely have any bass even for a reference set. You can EQ these frequencies in and it transforms these headphones into something great, it really can handle a healthy amount of bass without getting muddy and staying punchy, but ultimately you don't buy a pair of headphones to EQ them, you want them to be what they claim to be which is a studio headphone. Well, they are. For monitoring, not for mixing/mastering. You can track on these and it will provide great sound isolation, but I wouldn't make critical mixing decisions based on these, I got better sounding headphones than these for $14 that I can mix on. If you're serious about mixing on headphones, skip these and all cheap imitations and get Audio Technica M40X's or if you want open back, Sennheiser 600 series and spare your wallet from the rabbit hole of endless so called studio headphones. If you want a set of headphones that are bass light, mid scooped, but articulate and clear in the highs, with EQ potential to be great across all frequencies, then these are for you. Unfortunately, Maono will not provide a graph of the frequency response of these so you will have to play it by ear.

Decent Sound, but Kind of Uncomfortable with Long-term use
The build quality is quite good. The headphones feel as if they are strong and sturdy. The earcups are very thick and provide a lot of padding, but they don't help with the discomfort I felt. I tend to have my headphones on for extended periods and I found that after about a half hour, I started to feel uncomfortable in them as they were pressing into my skull. I have another pair of studio headphones from another brand that I do not have this same issue with. The cables are high quality, although they are a little shorter than I hoped they would be. The 3.5mm cable has a locking mechanism that prevents it from becoming unplugged, which is a plus. The carrying case is fairly nice, but nothing amazing. The sound quality is mostly acceptable. The highs and mids are clear and crisp, but the bass is lacking. I listened to rock, pop, rap, and classical music, and while the drums sound pretty good, the lower bass tones feel muted. These particular headphones shine brightest when playing rock and pop. Rap and hip-hop sound underwhelming on these. These aren't bad headphones. I do use them fairly often with rock and pop music, but as previously mentioned, I end up having to change them out at some point because of the discomfort. I have another pair from a different brand that I find myself choosing over these quite often. If they were not as tight around the ears, I could see myself using these for longer periods.

Super comfortable and sound great!
I've been trying all kinds of different headphones in an attempt to replace my venerable and loved Yamaha RH5M's I've somehow misplaced... somewhere... grrrr...Anyway, I've always preferred over-ear headphones to both on-ear and in-ear cans, for comfort and fit. The Yamahas were on-ear, but sounded so darn good I dealt with it (for over 30 years). I've never had a lot of luck with in-ears because my ears appear to be strangely shaped, causing 99% of them to pop out after a few minutes. Since the MAONOs are over-ear, I decided to give them a try.First impressions out of the box are how well these things are made. They feel pretty substantial, with many metal parts, yet they are not heavy at all. I really like how well these collapse down into a fairly small package for storage/travel. I appreciate that the left and right are clearly marked on the inside of the earpieces (unlike a few others I've tried recently). I like the replaceable ear pads and headband (which just snaps on and off), so knowing I can replace them when/if they wear out is reassuring. I love that they come with both the standard mini-headphone jack standard in most portable devices (except iPhones, don't get me started) as well as a second cable for use with old-school stereo gear and studio gear. No need for those huge adapters anymore! The sound quality is really very good. Nice tight bass that is present down to the lower registers, unlike Beats that over emphasize the bass (trust me, I'm a bass player). They are a bit bright, but not uncomfortably so. Switching back and forth between these and another pair of cans I have, they are a bit brighter, but after a few moments they sound perfectly normal, making the other cans sound dull. There are a few things I wish MAONO had done. I wish they came with a carrying case instead of the drawstring bag they do come with. The instructions are kinda... vague. Granted, it's a pair of headphones, not a LEGO set. It was pretty easy to figure out except for... There are TWO inputs into the headphones. Previous experience tells me the input wire in every headphone I've ever owned before plugs into the left ear, and the input wire fits and works, but there is also one in the RIGHT ear as well that the wire does NOT seem to fit into. I have no idea why it is there, if it does anything, or what. Was it for a microphone that these don't come with? If I shove the wire in there, will I break something? I suppose I will ignore it's existence until one day I just can't take not knowing and shove that wire in there and... who knows?Anyway, these things are great, comfortable, well made and sound really nice. It's a no-brainer... BUY THEM!
