Overpriced but a required item when using an MT-14EX or MT-24EX macro flash system
I use the Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS macro lens and an MT-24EX macro flash system and those two items by themselves, will not work together because the flash ring is too small to fit around the lens. It's pretty absurd that Canon hasn't fixed this, especially considering they've had half a decade to do it but that's another issue. So, you're left with one option: Buy this step-down ring and be able to attach your flash system to the lens. I personally haven't noticed much vignetting which is pretty surprising given how far out in front of the lens your flash is when using this adapter. As usual, this is just another item that should be included with the purchase of either the Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS or the MT-14EX and MT-24EX flash systems. Canon, are you listening?

Does what it is intended to
There is no room for graduated judgment on a device like this -- it either does what it is designed to do or it fails. There isn't anything in between. This adapter works. This adapter lets one of the two referenced Canon flash units attach to the front of Canon's 100 mm EF macro lens for bright illumination in close-up photography. If you are a macro photographer, you will know if you need a lens-mounted light source like Canon's macro Ring Lite. If you do, you need this adapter if you have Canon's excellent 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. If you plan to mount the ring flash or the adjustable twin flash on the dedicated MP-E 65mm macro lens, you do not need an adapter. That lens comes with the necessary mounting flange built into its basic design.

Great product for shooting
I bought this to fit the Canon Ring Light onto my 100mm Canon Macro lens. It is metal construction and is heavier than I thought it would be, not that it maters really, I'm just mentioning that it feels like a quality expensive product, not cheap in any way. Great purchase and if you are trying to decide whether the ring light is for you, I found it quite good at lighting jewelry in a Lightbox studio environment. Great item.

One Star Off for Cost / Value
This adapter works perfectly and allows the Canon 100 mm Macro lens to be used with a ring flash. It is well machined metal, likely costing about a dollar to produce (maybe less) per unit. And that is the only reason that I've knocked off a star - this should be marketed for about ten dollars, IMHO. Anyway, I would recommend getting a 58 mm lens cap along with it so that you won't have to screw and unscrew this ring on your 100 mm lens since with the ring in place your 67 mm lens cap will not work.

Used 80D international version canon camera instead of new
Ordered a canon 80D camera (international version) a week ago. The product arrived today and everything seemed fine. After opening the box and checking the camera I realized that the body is NOT new. I probably would not notice it, if it wasn't for the pod mark and scratches under the camera body, since it is a kit which they open the box and remove the lens from.Really disappointing for an Amazon's choice seller and product... returning it and will buy another one. Hopefully will receive a new camera this time around.

Works well
This product does what it is supposed to do, and seems to do it well. I am not a professional, so I will not put my macro lens and ring light to extremely heavy usage. But the adapter fit is snug and there seems to be no danger of stripping the threads. I am very satisfied.

High quality %100 works with Canon MR-14EX II ring flash
This adapter definetely worths the money. I thought a lot to go with a different option since $32 seems to be a lot for only an adaptor. But consider your ring flash get loose from your lens and you crack it, which you will end up loosing $100s.

It would have been nice if this was included with the lens
I was disappointed that I had to buy this little adapter after already spending hundreds on the new lens and flash, but it works well and is the only real option if you want to mount a ringlight on the EF 100mm f2.8L IS USM Macro. Definitely worth it though. The "IS" function and smooth USM are fantastic!
