High pitched whine
This items lasted me just over a year, with infrequent use (not even weekly). I only ever used it to make humus. And when it was working it did so well, if you can stand the high-pitched whine, which drove everyone from my kitchen (!)I liked the feature that allowed it to go faster, simply by applying more pressure top the single button. But the things always sounded like it was on it's last legs and there was always that hot plastic smell, like something was overworking and burning.

Small but powerful ! 5 Stars
I’d had the Cuisinart mini prep for 12 years and it served me really well to be honest , but I didn’t need to spend so much this time , and Amazon was offering a monthly payment on this one . Thought it was worth a try - and I’m delighted with it ! I’ve used it every day to make omelette fillings , (mushrooms, onions , tomatoes , spinach etc ) and I can rinse out between each and pop in the next item - most amazing is NO residual smell of onion or garlic left on the container after washing by hand . This is a really useful powerful small mini prep and if you’re looking for something to make small batches of fillings for sandwiches , or quick whipping up of cream for desserts - in fact anything at all that is too time consuming to chop by hand ( NOTE: except ice which manufacturer doesn’t recommend ) this is the perfect accessory for your kitchen !! Also take advantage of Amazon’s special offer of payment plan !

Brilliant for single folk or small processing jobs
Now I can say that this is one of the most useful items in my kitchen. Egg mayonnaise, chopping small amounts of onions for freezing, pate making, breadcrumbs with cheese.. endless uses. I read reviews on Which before buying it. Which gave it a cheapest best buy award with 74% and nothing anywhere near that price range went much higher. I already have a larger Kenwood food processor and as I live alone, I was fed up with having to use the big one for small chop jobs and also liked the idea of making my own mayo in small quantities [it doesn't keep well] and the drizzle hole is perfect for that.I used it yesterday to chop onions and sweet potato for hash browns. The small sweet potato was rough cut in chunks [about 2 cm x 1 cm ] and processed in two parts. Half a medium sized onion chopped roughly into four - processed in one go. Both easy, both producing fairly consistent sizes. And I could feel how it would reduce much further quite quickly.I found all parts easy to remove and clean. I nearly bought the Ninja as I love their blender, but when I saw how food got stuck I backed away.. that's a big NO NO for me. The base is a little [very little] tricky as it has no handle.. but if you are careful and feel it rather than force, you should get the knack fairly easily. It does take very small quantities, but it also takes up little space..The instructions say 'don't use for coffee or hard spices' which is a pity but my main purpose for this is to chop small quantities and mix small quantities. The bigger Kenwood is a pain to wash, too big and I live in a small studio.. so it invaribly goes in the dishwasher but it is great for larger portions and mixing pastry etc. Last year I ordered a cuisinart mini after much $oul $earching as I have to be careful with my spending.. It was stolen from outside my door. It's taken me a year almost to get round to trying again.. and this time I had to go cheaper..That one cost over £40 and this one £14.99. I also paid for extra warranty given most items are not made to last [my bugbear as I have kettles and dishwasher etc my mother bought 25 yrs ago]... The warranty was about £3 or so.. bringing the price up a bit.

Every kitchen should have one..............
I had previously owned a variety of food processors before I purchased the Kenwood Mini Chopper, but one thing that they all had in common was that I very rarely used them! This was because I have a good set of knifes, I am quite proficient with them, and they were easier to clean afterwards; another reason was that all the processors were quite bulky and I'm a bit of 'fuss pot' when it comes to having clutter-free worktops, so more often than not they were stored at the back of a cupboard and by the time I'd got them out and set them up I could have probably done all the work with a knife!Anyway, you may find yourself wondering why if my trusty old knifes were so wonderful I'd end up buying one these choppers? Well its simple really, I used one at a friends house and just couldn't believe how good it was!I ordered one from Amazon as soon as I got home; that was over three years a go, so here I am giving a review based on extensive use over that period.Ok, lets start with the main selling point of this gadget, its size; it is exactly as advertised, just 190mm in length and 145mm from top to bottom, with an overall weight of approximately 950g.The two things that are quite surprising considering its minimal size are its power and capacity; the motor is 300w, and this coupled with Stainless steel blades, means that it is very good at chopping most reasonable things you throw in it, I use it primarily for onions, garlic, chillies, breadcrumbs and herbs. The bowl has a capacity of 350ml (150g), this is enough for a decent sized onion or a big old hand full of herbs; it is incredibly easy to remove and replace on the chopper, and it is dishwasher safe! The chopper uses a simple One Touch Control for operation; basically its a big grey button on the top that you can either hold down for continuous or tap for pulse. The chopper will not operate unless the safety interlock system is engaged, so to put it simpy unless the bowl is properly in place with the lid attached completely you cannot make the blades turn. This is a really nifty gadget; it is well made (as frequent use over a three year period attests to), effective at its job, surprisingly powerful, aesthetically pleasing, space-saving, well priced and ultimately it does make life in the kitchen easier!Highly recommended.
