Great product
What a great and reliable product to expand the number of ports on my Mac Mini. I've been using it for 2 years. I've recently upgraded my Mac Mini to the M4 one, and I still prefer this because it offers more ports! The M4 dock doesn't have a USB-C, audio jack, or micro SD, but this does!

Excellent product and customer support
I was initially concerned that the product was not fit for purpose as it repeatedly dismounted and remounted the SSD I installed in the internal bay, and a second drive that was connected via one of the front USB ports. This would happen several times an hour, rendering it useless as a storage and backup solution.I contacted Satechi via their website, provided my Amazon order number and explained the problem. That was on Wednesday 18th January. I received a response the following day asking for my address and contact details. On the Friday I received an email from DHL to say that a parcel from Satechi in San Diego, California had been shipped. I received the replacement hub yesterday, Monday 23rd January, just five days after reporting the issue. Considering the replacement was shipped from the USA I thought this was excellent service, especially as I wasn't even asked to ship the faulty unit back.I installed my SSD into the new hub, reconnected the USB drive and left my mac Mini running overnight to see if it would replicate the same problem. The drives remained mounted throughout the night without any disconnections. Now that I have a fully working hub, I'm very pleased with the purchase. It's an excellent solution to overcome the small internal drive within the Mac Mini and blends in perfectly, giving the appearance that the Mac and the Hub are one unit. I haven't tested transfer speeds as I'm not a power user, but for my purpose there is no noticeable difference in accessing data on the fitted SSD than the Mac's internal SSD.Hopefully the replacement hub will continue to operate as expected, but I'll update if there are any problems down the line. Right now I couldn't be happier - an excellent product which is a complete solution to the limited storage shipped with the Mac and first class customer service!

The perfect accessory for the Mac Studio
This is a superb addition to anyone who buys a Mac Studio. Fits perfectly underneath and gives more front ports for easy access. Of real benefit is the the ability to install an SSD drive (purchased separately) which works a treat. This is a very cheap option to extend the hard drive storage inside your Mac Studio without breaking the bank. Plus it will be upgradable too! But

If you want your WiFi killed then buy this product, otherwise stay away!
I bought this product as it was a great way to add extra storage and connectivity on the front of our Mac Mini. However, it seems this device is killing the WiFi to the Mac. It used to randomly drop WiFi, but now it seems to permanently kill the WiFi. Took me ages to find this. Tried various tests to eliminate other things. If I have USB C lead plugged into the Mac from the hub, my WiFI speed drops from 100Mbps to so slow that speed tests won't run! They think I am disconnected. I rerun the test with the cable unplugged and speed is back to normal.Really, really disappointed as this product adds so much to the Mac mini and matches the look and feel so well. Being in the high-tech industry and to see a device so negatively impact another wireless device is shocking!

Satechi have fixed the connectivity problems of the Mac Mini!
It shouldn't need another company to provide you with the ports you need to use your computer regularly, but Satechi have done exactly that. The stand/hub sits underneath the Mac Mini, connected via USB C on the rear, and it provids you with a bunch of ports at the front which otherwise would be a pain to get to on the back of the Mini.I use this for hot-swapping mouse and keyboard with my main desktop, and to make it easier to hook up SD and micro-SD cards in the front. Brilliant.I haven't tested the SSD compatibility yet but if my experiences so far are anything to go by, then it will be a pleasant experience too.Update October 2023: Like a number of the other reviewers here, the Micro SD card slot has failed and it doesn't recognise the presence of Micro SD cards anymore. Weird. I'll contact Satechi about it. Back to the normal review below....Basically, if you have a Mac Mini, then you should get this Hub to throw underneath it.It is not the cheapest device in the world but if you're buying a Mac Mini then the chances are you have some expendable income and the benefits of this extra device far outweigh the price for it.

Ideal for expanding a Mac mini
I just upgraded to a Mac mini M2Pro - and have lots of USB connected devices - including drives and USB licence dongles. I ordered this unit because the Mac would simply sit on top, and one connection would give me extra USB, but also SD card slots on the front. When it arrived, I discovered an SSD slot - something I had not noticed the spec included, so bought the appropriate SSD - a 1Tb one in my case. Installation was really simple - open the flap, and inside is a screwdriver and small screw. Pop in the SSD, secure with the screw and pop the flap back. The Mac recognises the external drive and that was so simple. I now have the extra memory, and lots of connections. The unit has a USB/thunderbolt style connector and that then leaves me the rest of the Mac's own connectors, plus the extra ones on the device. It is the same colour and style so I'm really impressed with it. No downsides I can find at all - it does exactly what you expect it to do - seamlessly!
