Back in 2020 I purchased the North Deer adjustable dumbbell set (30lb x 2). I liked the compact size and the ability to buy a barbell that is compatible with the steel plates. I use these dumbbells all the time and highly recommend them to anyone who has a small exercise space at home. I primarily strength train with dumbbells, but was interested in trying out a barbell or curl bar. Since I am not used to barbell training and I do not have a weight bench at home I found it challenging to do exercises where I was not in an upright position, like chest press and hip thrusts. I was twisting my body in unsafe ways to grab the bar. If you are using this bar for hip thrusts I would highly recommend a barbell cushion, because even with my normal diy cushion it felt uncomfortable.The EZ Curl Bar was comfortable to work with and allowed me to do many exercises with heavier weights without feeling stress on my body. One con of the bar is that I was not able to load as much weight as I expected. The way the plates are constructed I was only able to load 4 out of 6 plates from each 30lb dumbbell. This amounted to 19.4lbs of plates on one side. There is a second way to connect the dumbbell that could add more weight, but that extended the bar too wide for my 5’2” frame. It does have a weight capacity of 300lbs, but that would require me to purchase more steel plates. Overall this is a well constructed piece of equipment and I would highly recommend this EZ Curl Bar if you have a set of North Deer adjustable dumbbells.

I initially purchased the Northdeer dumbbells and padded barbell and couldn't have been happier with those choices. As I continued to build my reps and wanted to increase the weight, I decided to try out the EZ curl bar, and I'm thrilled with the results.What stands out for me is how much easier it is to use the EZ curl bar for its intended purpose. The grip is superior, especially as I keep upping the weights, compared to the padded bar. The fact that the weights are compatible with both the Northdeer version 1.0 and 2.0 is a significant advantage. I currently own the 1.0 weights, and they are effortless to change out.The sturdiness of the curl bar is reassuring, making it easy to move around, and its 37.4" length is perfect for my home gym as it doesn't take up much space. To give you a visual idea of the difference, I've included a photo comparing the EZ Curl Bar with the padded barbell. It's clear that the EZ Curl Bar is the superior choice for curls and fits very well on my shoulders as it snuggly rounds my neck for an increased area of contact/ pressure for squats.Overall, I highly recommend the Northdeer EZ Curl Bar to anyone looking to enhance their home gym experience. It's a valuable addition that's made a noticeable difference in my workouts.
