Works as advertised so far
Was worried. Only a single 1 star review but it basically said his pool pump/filter doesn't provide enough flow. Was here in 1 day! We set it to 87 degrees (press and hold the "M" mode button to switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit) added a wifi thermometer to the pool to monitor. So far, completely satisfied. It's a heat pump, so if you set the mode to both, it will cool or heat the water to maintain the temp.Things to noteWhen it's cooling, fan blows hot air and vice versa when heating. Ours is behind pool so we added some foam board insulation against side of pool. Not a huge draw on circuit. Just plugged in to our outside GFI where pool is plugged in. No problems. The cord has a gfi plug on it too. Will update when we see how far it extends our pool season!

BEWARE!!!!
Bought this and it worked for about a month and then started showing a code E3 which means no water flow. Talked with Amazons tech support and then the Villastar team for about 2 weeks! They only refunded 80% of my money. Tried another and it only worked for one week with the SAME issue! Getting FULL refund this time! Will be looking elsewhere.

Best Value for the Price
I used this on a 2000 gallon pool (rather small, but still much larger than a hot tub). It absolutely works and can get the whole pool up to the high 90’s, but can take a day or so to do that. My only complaint is that sometimes it seems finicky and it says it’s on but it’s not heating and I have to reset it, but at this price I can’t complain. I’ve only been using it a few weeks now so I can’t comment on the longevity yet.

Couldn’t warm the 5k pool even starting at 58*
This photo is taken how package was delivered. Dented box. Frame of unit slightly bent but no significant damage to unit. UPS must have dropped it against back of truck step. Unit operated well and quiet. Easy to install into existing filtration system.

Warms up as intended
EDIT: I had given it a one star previously but that was unfair. My pool pump is strong so it is unnoticeable that it can heat up when checking the lines however, after I left it a day plugged in, the water was warmer and when inside the pool, it's noticeable that the water coming in is warmer. I suppose an energy efficient heater like this has the drawback of not being the fastest one to heat up, but that's very reasonable.Original review below: I plugged this to my 3000 gallons pool with a 1000 gph pump and I notice no warmer water coming out. No errors. The fan draws colder air out so I expected to get something warmer out. (Is it possible to notice the difference between inlet and outlet water lines?)

E3 Error - Does not work with Intex / Updated
I installed everything as pictured in the listing and get a E3 error. This will not work with an intex filter. After upgrading to a 1500 GPH filter/pump it now works. The standard intex filter/pump is not strong enough.
